Easton

Easton
Easton is the cutest little boy we know! He rightfully earned the nickname 'BEASTY' when he was a baby and it has stuck with him. He is such a sweet little mommy's boy and we are ALL at his Beck and call. Easton loves cars, snacks, and playing outside. He is talking up a storm and it seems like he learns something new every single day. He is at such a fun age. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this little guy!

Ainslee

Ainslee
Ainslee is the baby and she just turned ONE!! This child is a handful!!! She hasn't quite grown out of the difficult phase.....that she has been in since she was born, but we still find ways to find her sweet side! Hearing her baby giggles and watching her discover & learn new things make all the whininess......just a little easier to deal with. Aaaahhh, we love this Ainslee Girl!!

Avery

Avery
Oh our cute little Avery! With her blue eyes & blonde hair, she is one of the cutest 4 year olds around!! This girl is stubborn! She definitely keeps us on our toes. She is quite unpredictable, which makes for a lot of laughs! Avery is our TREAT-FREAK! We can always guess what is on her mind. My favorite thing about Avery is her smiles. She always has one for us no matter what and that makes everyones day just a little better. She attends preschool and says she doesn't like it, but secretly we know she does ;). We are so lucky to have this cute girl in our family! We can't get enough of her.

Kobe Dylan

Kobe Dylan
Kobe is our first child, born in 2004. He was 4 months early and weighed a whopping 1 lb. 4 oz.! We got to be with Kobe for 4 wonderful weeks. I feel so blessed to have been chosen to raise one of God's perfect children. We love him and thank Heavenly Father everyday that he is part of our family. We have a treasure in heaven.

Quinnlyn

Quinnlyn
Quinnie just turned 6! She is growing faster than we can keep up with! She loves going to first grade and is doing really well! She picks up on things very quickly and LOVES learning. She's seriously a sponge. Her favorite thing to do is write notes and draw pictures for her friends & family. You should see our continual stack of papers. Quinnlyn is creative & spunky & totally independant. We love her like crazy!

HAPPY....enough said....

I love days where I am just happy with life. So many things get in the way and block my view of how GOOD I really do have it! Lately I have been thinking about the fact that I don't work, and therefore we live off student loans. Not that I am even considering getting a job, but I am sometimes afraid that some people look at me thinking, "Why doesn't she go get a job?". I know I shouldn't let what other people think bother me....and I don't really know if people are thinking that...but I get unsure of myself.
I feel so fortunate that Brett & I have been able to make it with only one income (and now no real income). Growing up, I thought that is what moms did...they stayed home and raised their children...I didn't figure out that I was one of the lucky ones until I was married. Then I saw that a lot of moms don't have that opportunity. I have memories of my mother that I wouldn't have if she had not choosen to be a stay-at-home mom. Who else would've have done my hair every morning, picked me up at school during 2nd grade when I cried everday because I was homesick, had a home-cooked meal ready EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, and known all of my going-ons because she was around enough to see it! The fact that I stay home was never a decision. It's how I was raised (thanks mom & dad), and I couldn't see myself doing anything but that. And, I was lucky enough that my husband agreed (thanks Brett).
So here are some things that happen during the day that I couldn't imagine missing:

-I get to wake my kids up EVERY morning. I feel so special that I get to be the one who they see very first in the morning. The best is when I hear them in their rooms talking to themselves or singing.
-I get to make them breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This seems trivial right? Well, I may be weird because I get so much satifaction out of watching my kids eat. It reminds me of how dependant they are on me. It's an amazing thing to know that I am fulfilling their basic needs (it's so hard to explain).
-I get to know my girls personalities, wants, needs, likes, and dislikes more than anybody else.
-I NEVER miss the 'simple' things...which are sometimes the best things. Hearing the girls laugh together, walking into Avery's room to find her butt naked, reading a story, doing their hair even though we have nowhere to go, etc.
-I NEVER miss the big things either: First smiles, first laughs, first steps, first words, Quinnlyn reading (which she started a few weeks ago, but that's a different post), etc.

I still feel inadequate at times. I am not the great mother that I wish I was and I don't have a job that provides money. And, staying home is not always super wonderful. But, at the end of the day, I am doing what is right for myself and my family, we are making it just fine, and my life is wonderful because of it...I really do have the best and most important job there is. I remember something my friend Clenece asked me the very first time we spoke: "Do you GET to stay home with your kids?" I loved the way she worded that....Yes! I do GET to stay home with my kids! (Thanks for that Clenece, you probably didn't realize the impact you had). How lucky am I?

Now, how do I make this feeling last?

It doesn't always last everyday but there are many, many times that you are reminded how lucky you are! We are also EXTREMELY lucky that we had a mom who stayed home and even more lucky that we get to stay home with our kids I think we are only in like the 12% of the nation.

I loved reading this post. There are many days I wish I didn't have to deal with the girls, but you are right, it's a blessing and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, they were very well said.

Oh I TOTALLY agree. I feel that same way. I grew up with a Mom that stayed home, we didn't have the nicest home, or the nicest things but I got my mom there all the time. She doesn't stay home anymore and I still have 2 sibling at home. There is A HUGE difference, and I can see it first hand. I know it's so important, but thanks for reminding me. Some days I think it would be nice to get away but I really never could or would ever want to. Anyways, thanks for the post... we are so blessed!!!

I agree with you Kim, it's definately a blessing to be able to stay home! Some days I want to go crazy, but it is very rewarding to see your kid learn something new and know that you are the one who taught them. Thanks for this post...I so wish that you could feel like that everyday, too. But then again, we wouldn't know the blessings if we didn't have the struggles, right.

I just saw your comment on baby Gracie's blog. I was touched by what you said so I had to look at your blog. I have three little girls, two of them are your girl's ages. I am amazed at the trials that some people have to go through. It strengthens people like me. Just when I think my trials are unbearable I find someone else who has trials that are huge compared to mine. You are wonderful and I love your post about being happy. I love meeting new people through blogging. I have a private blog and I would love to invite you if you email me.
