Quinnlyn read her first book today....'THE FOOT BOOK' by Dr. Seuss. We've been reading a few pages for the past few nights, & tonight she read the whole thing. I'm amazed at how she picks up on this. It's hard to explain to her why the same letter can make different sounds...but she just accepts it and moves on. She loves to look at books in bed. I will go in to wake her up in the morning, and she will seriously have piles of books right next to her head. Such a good habit to get into I think.
Just a note....the other day she showed me a picture she drew for Brett & she wrote Daddy up at the top...but she spelled it out herself and this is how it came out: "DADEE". I know it was totally spelled the wrong way, but I was so impressed that she sounded it out and came up with this. And it does say 'Daddy' right?

This is exactly how she should be spelling it! Kids don't really learn how to spell correctly until first and second grade. If you ask any teacher they will tell you to let her spell the words the way they sound not how they are actually spelled. So good job Quinnie.
She amazes me...you amaze me!!! Way to go Quinnlyn...You want to teach McKenna?? That would be great!!lol!
Way fun! That is so neat! I love when kids are just learning like crazy!
