... TORNADO SEASON (at the end of my last post)......
It had it's debut last night at about 9:00.
There we were, sitting at a BBQ with a bunch of dental student friends, celebrating our husbands making it through first year. The weather was actually quite perfect with overcast skies & a tiny breeze. Well, all of the sudden the tornado sirens start BLARING!!!
And nobody moves....
I am pretty much the only one freaking out (mildly) trying to locate my kids and get them inside. Poor Quinnlyn has heard me talking about my fear of the dreaded TORNADO so she has also picked up the fear. She came into me with the sweetest (terrified) face and said:
"MOM! The tornado is coming. What are we going to do?" Poor thing.
And then Avery is walking around with a funny & fake frantic voice say: "A TORMADO is coming!" (Yes, TORMADO with an 'M')
Want to know the funny thing....and by funny I mean NOT FUNNY AT ALL! We had two options....stay at our friends house on the Northwest side of Indy, where the storm pretty much was....or drive to our house on the Southeast side where the storm was pretty much HEADING. Nice huh?
So we decided to head home before the predicted golf ball size hail started falling. About 5 minutes away from our house, the rain started
& we had a lightening strike right in front of our car (or so it looked). But, we did make it home....and about and hour later, the storm was over. So I didn't end up having to clear out my tornado closet, a tornado never actually touched ground, and we all slept peacefully. But hmmmmmm.....this bipolar Indiana weather may just cause my insanity!!!
