I figured it was time to do the post. So my family flew in last Friday & we had fun showing them around Indy. Here's a little recap of our week (and a picture overload too....I hate slide shows for a couple of reasons, so I don't do them):
Saturday we went downtown. We were gonna go to the monument & maybe hit some museums, but we ended up riding the PADDLE BOATS down the canal. It was a little tiring, but fun. We rented two boats to split between the nine of us, and we tried to have a race...but the boat I was in was BROKEN....so we lost. Next time we'll get one that works :) After we got done on the boats, we walked to the downtown mall & got something to eat. We got home & went to our pool to do a little SWIMMIN. It was a little chilly, but it didn't bother the girls.
Sunday we just went to CHURCH and hung out. It was my little sisters B-DAY so we had ice cream cake & celebrated a little.
MONDAY all the girls (minus the 2 little ones) went and got a PEDICURE. I've only ever had 2 pedicures, but I don't think I like them very much. It scares me to let someone use sharp tools near my toes!!! But, our toes did end up looking pretty cute with some sparkly nail art. We then went to lunch at PANERA BREAD (have you been there? You should really go if there is one near you. It was really yummy!). While we were out, Brett, my dad, & Quinnlyn & Avery went BOWLING. The girls loved it, and to top it all off, they went to MCDONALD'S for lunch (can it get any better?)
TUESDAY was spent down in BROWN COUNTY STATE PARK. It is about an hour and ten minutes from our house, and it is really pretty with TONS of trees! We grilled hamburgers & had a little PICNIC, then we went HIKING on a couple of trails (even though we were all wearing Flip-Flops). They have cute little cabins you can rent, playgrounds, a pool, & a couple of lakes. We will definitely have to take another trip down there sometime. I'd like to see more park than we were able to see. That night my two little sisters went to a young women activity in my ward, & the rest of us just RELAXED.
WEDNESDAY was our SHOPPING day (well....one of them). We spent a while at the mall and didn't come home with a whole lot (isn't that how it always happens?), but we still had fun. At least, us girls did. I'm not sure the guys enjoyed it so much.
THURSDAY we attempted to go STRAWBERRY PICKING so we could make freezer jam. It had been raining, but we were prepared for the mud. We got to the farms, got our little boxes, and headed out to the muddy fields. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it was nearing the END of strawberry season so the strawberries were TINY. It wasn't even worth picking any. Plus, we had to wade through standing water and that was just GROSS! So after about 30 minutes, we paid for our one pound of ITSY BITSY berries (that we picked between the nine of us) and decided to go to one of our Indianapolis Museums & watch a 3D IMAX movie. It was an 'UNDER SEA ADVENTURE' and even Avery watched it with her glasses on....of course she was a little freaked out at times saying "SHARK!". Quinnlyn just tried to catch all the little fish since they looked so close. But before that, Brett was DESPERATE to go to lunch at his favorite mexican place GUANAJAUTO'S so we indulged his craving.
Friday we had another SHOPPING DAY but at a different mall. Everyone came home with a little more merchandise this time, but still not as much as we should have after spending almost 3 hours there. That night my little sister Madison was nice enough to watch our girls while the rest of us went OUT TO DINNER. It was nice to just get out without having to worry about watching EVERYTHING the girls did!!! Especially since Brett & I RARELY get to do anything without them since we don't want to pay a fortune for a babysitter!
And then came SATURDAY. The day I had been DREADING since the minute my family arrived at the airport. We woke up and cleaned the house a bit, & got everyone's things together & enjoyed the last few hours of their stay. We drove them to the airport at 4:30 that afternoon....and yes, we all cried. Except for Brett who basically told me to BUCK UP (I'm not sure he has much emotion these days). It never gets easier to say GOOD-BYE to my family. I know I have done it 4 times now, but if anyone tells me that it gets easier, I won't believe them. In fact, I think this time was much HARDER, for two reasons: ONE...because I don't have a 3 hour plane ride to keep me busy, & TWO....because I don't know when I will see them next (the earliest would be X-mas, but I'm not sure we will even make it home then). The one thing that does help is that my sister WHITNEY is staying with us until July so that will be fun for us!
Thanks for coming to visit DAD, MOM, DANIELLE, & MADISON (and WHITNEY who is still here). We had tons of fun & hope you did too. Also, thanks for staying at my house instead of a hotel. I know it was a bit crowded, but it wouldn't have been as much fun. WE LOVE YOU!
P.S We missed seeing you TAISHA. We wish you could've come too, but I guess drill team is a good enough excuse for you to miss the trip.

How FUN! I'm sure it's so much fun to have family come and stay at your house... that never happens when you live close. At least I'm looking forward to that. On the other hand, I'm definetly not excited about having to say goodbye!
I was hoping for a close up of Brett, but I enjoyed the pic of the mohawk. Glad you had fun with your family.
