Going on week #3
Easton is only 2 1/2 weeks old, but he has already grown so much!!!!
He came home from the hospital weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz.
At his 1 week appointment, he weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz.
At his 2 weeks appointment, he weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz.
I think he is getting PLENTY to eat!!!! In fact, I'm thinking he doesn't really need to eat every 1 1/2 hours like he THINKS he does!!!!
By the way...at two appointments, he was only measuring 19 3/4 inches long....how does that happen? He shrunk and inch and a half since birth? I don't think so. Basically, they weighed him wrong & measured him wrong at birth. That bugs me. You'd think they could be a little more thorough. Oh well.
So this little guy is pretty fussy. He isn't usually happy unless someone is holding him. And sometimes he's not happy even when someone is holding him. He doesn't want to sleep unless someone is holding him either. Needless to say, someone is usually holding him.
He has a VERY loud cry. It sounds like he is in pain or something (even though he isn't). He gives us about 2.5 seconds to pay attention to him and then he is full out SCREAMING at the top of his lungs. This is a little bit disturbing to both me & Brett. We aren't use to having a baby who cries hard. Both the girls were pretty quiet when they cried.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Easton's bow-legged chicken legs! They are just so tiny and so cute! They really are from Brett....I wonder if they will stay bow-legged.
He isn't a great sleeper. Don't get me wrong....he sleeps a lot!!!! But anytime I lay down to take a nap or try to get something done....he, of course, wakes up. The past two nights I have been having Brett feed him a bottle for his first night feeding. So I get about 5-6 straight hours of sleep. The down side to all of this, is that Easton wants to stay awake for an hour and half at 4 in the morning, and then he doesn't sleep very well after that. So basically I wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning these days. I don't know how, but I seem to handle it pretty well.
I don't feel like I have had to adjust much to having 3 kids. I feel pretty lucky about that. I am hoping it doesn't all catch up with me. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to getting Easton on a schedule though. With the girls, it seemed like things just fell into place. I think I am going have to try a little harder with this one. Is he too young to sleep train? I'm thinking so.
Regardless of the fussiness and lack of sleep and feeding 24/7....we sure love this kid!!!

Oh, we know fussy babies well!! The newborn stage has been rough with all three of ours. Just know that it usually peaks around 6 weeks and gets better after that, when they are fussy.
If you're into reading baby books, a good one for fussy newborns is "Happiest Baby on the Block" by Dr. Harvey Karp. You can read a little about it here: http://www.happiestbaby.com/ I checked out a short DVD at the library about it and it helped us get through Carter's fussy stage.
Also don't know if you're into "wearing" baby around the house in a baby carrier but that helped me get things done and take care of the older kids and Carter would sleep in there. I just try not to worry about creating "bad habits" when they are newborn and just do whatever works at the time and fix it later, when they are more able to be trained (4ish months seems to be the magic age)! But a baby carrier would save your aching arms!
Good to hear that you are adjusting well, even with a fussy baby! You must be Superwoman, 'cause it wasn't (and still isn't) easy for me!
BUT he is SUPER cute, so that helps A LOT!
I am sorry to hear he is a loud little guy! He is pretty cute though. Newborns are so much work. Even though they sleep alot...you don't ever get alot done! I hope you two get things worked out. Ashlyn is just now getting herself into a schedule. Best of luck!
He is so cute. I swear it's baby boys that are sooooooo hard... at least for me that has been the case. Good luck! The fussy stage is usually completely over by 12 weeks. I remember wishing those 12 weeks away with Ammon. Fussy babies are soooooooo hard. I definetly got really lucky with my third. She has been such a happy baby, but I swear it was because I had had it really rough with the boys. It will get better!!!!
He is a doll! hope he gets a little better for ya! Can't wait to meet him!
sounds like a tough one! good thing he is so cute!
