Really?
Well, I am almost 38 weeks and still there is no baby. At 36.5 weeks I was only dilated to a 1 & 60% effaced (which was the same as 34.5 weeks). I was pretty frustrated with that. Then I decided that it's not so bad. I had some sewing projects to finish, and I am not sure I am ready for the 'no sleeping'.
So I am just trying to enjoy my last few weeks of 'freedom' and by 'freedom' I mean: No diapers (I've had a lovely year of NO diapers....how lucky am I?), not being tied down as a milking cow (because nursing, in my opinion, is not as convenient as everybody makes it out to be), having my kids be able to do most things by themselves, having a set schedule, etc. Let's face it...I've had it pretty good and now I am headed back into BABY TERRITORY.
I am definitely looking forward to losing weight (good luck with that one). I estimate I will weigh at least 5 pounds more than I did with my other pregnancies. Unfortunately the baby thought he NEEDED dessert every single night since I have been pregnant. Other things I am looking forward to: Not feeling like an 80 year old woman every time I try to stand up (my back & pelvic area is feeling awful), not getting bladder punched & cervix-scratched every day, and just having the peace of mind that the baby is healthy & well. I also think I have a bruised uterus or something of the sort. The baby is often wedged up on my right upper abdomen, and it gets painful by the middle of the day.
I'm getting SUPER nervous for DELIVERY DAY though. Silly me, I have been preparing for a non-medicated birth. I'm starting to realize I was probably out of my mind when I made that decision. In my defense, the biggest reason I decided to do it was because Avery's birth was so CHAOTIC & immensely painful due to the fact that I was FORCED to go natural. I hadn't taken any birthing classes & I was so unprepared to NOT have an epidural. So this time around I thought it might be a good idea to prepare myself in case this baby comes as fast as Avery did (Under 2 hours from start to finish). So I am going to try it, but I am definitely not one of those crazy women who refuse to do it any other way. If I am in too much pain, I am certainly getting my epidural. And Brett is rootin' for the epidural. I think he wants to put in as little effort as possible while I am in labor.
So new things this week?
I wasn't checked for dilation. I decided it's just better not to know, because it doesn't make a whole lot of difference anyway. And if I am the same, I would've just been mad.
I am still gaining weight and that isn't fair.
I am measuring 36 weeks. Last week I was measuring 34, so he jumped up 2 weeks (that's how I am explaining away the weight gain).
I was rummaging through my drawer trying to find something to wear and I came across.....GOUCHO'S!!!!! I was seriously SO happy to have found the ugly things and I will admit that I will probably be wearing them until I deliver this baby!
Baby gets the hiccups often, still gets startled by loud noises, & kicks my bladder & cervix.
I am negative for GBS (which is a first).
I actually 'submitted' a birth plan to my doctor & hospital. I feel silly doing that, but oh well.
It took me OVER 30 minutes to get to my hospital today (for my doctors appointment) because of construction. My hands were sweating by the time I arrived, because I kept thinking "What if I was in labor right now & I was stuck in this traffic????" (Scary thought). I think I will try and mapquest an alternate route just in case.
I hope he comes before my due date. I don't want to be induced, but I do refuse to go past 40 weeks.

and just think...you are at the end...Think of how you would feel RIGHT NOW if you just found out you were pregnant...9 more months of what you've just gone through...oi
you are so cute and so little!!!! cant wait for the baby
You are almost there. You have a perfect belly! And don't worry about losing the weight, I think it's easier when you have little ones to chase already. LOL!
good luck Kim! He'll be here before you know it...and it's so true about entering the "Baby" stage again...so if you are still sleeping ENJOY that honey! Those last few weeks are the WORST tho--but pretty soon, you'll have a sweet baby to snuggle :)
You're almost there!
We are so excited to meet this cute boy!!! Hope all goes well!... Good luck and hope to be hearing from you soon with good news!!!
I am so right there with you! I think my pelvic bone is bruised. And I have the same reasoning for going natural too! Not that I've had a natural delivery before I'm just nervous not to be prepared in case I have to. Good luck with everything! It looks like we are in a head to head race to the finish!
He'll be here soon. Good luck with the all natural route. You'll do so good!
ooh and for the weight loss...It's no fare that it melts off you like melted butter...or however they say that)
You are still so skinny. YOu look awesome. I totally agree with the whole nursing thing. It was not my favorite thing to do. Good luck with everything. I can't wait to see pictures.
Oh Kim. I am so glad that you have come this far. What did you decide on a name? And natural is the only way to go. It hurts like hell for just a little while and then you feel amazing. :) Well hopefully it will happen like that. You can do it girly. You have probably been in more pain for much longer. You are a trooper. Good Luck with everything. I really hope it goes well.
